Return to Sambo Creek - The story begins

On this trip I was shown the desires of my heart as designed by God. This is the trip I learned to like myself.

Returning to Sambo Creek for my 2nd time was probably the most joyful return I've ever experienced anywhere. This trip included a small group of friends including my sister for the first week. The Mission house moved from the center of town to a beautiful home on the beach. A house large enough to welcome mission teams and we were the first of many guests to come to that home.

The joy of the neighborhood exploded as we walked into "bario de playa" the neighborhood that hosted the home church and children's ministry at that time. "Katy" "Katy" I heard from every direction. The shouts of pure joy join in from so many children happy to see so many visitors come to play and fellowship with them. The sound of my name coming from those faces I first met only a few short months before this, well let's just say I've never been the same since.

The video below is only a taste of how the children of Sambo stole my heart. It's this trip as well as many to come that started to teach me about how these faces live day to day. As this blog series transpires, stories of these children will come more to life. Little did I know then, that I'd be sitting here sharing these stories three years later.

This is only the beginning of where my life is now. Back in Florida, trying to live my daily life here, knowing there's more for me. My story with these children has only just begun.

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. John 15:9-11
