First Time in Sambo - One week in a community, A lifetime of friends!

When I arrived in Sambo Creek, Honduras for my first time July 27, 2013, it was late and dark. My trip from the airport in San Pedro Sula to Sambo Creek consisted of 3 hours of darkness and wonder. My mind had set some expectations, but my heart was full of excitement and anticipation for what was soon to come.

The crow of roosters and songs of birds awoke us after a couple of hours of sleep, there wasn't a doubt in my mind I was no longer in Florida. The next 7 days were so much more than I could have ever imagined. All though this was not my first foreign mission trip, it was my first "real life" missionary experience. That morning my eyes were welcomed with the view the greenest mountains I've ever seen and the smell of life around me. We stayed our week living in the village with the people we would be ministering to., or should I say would be ministering to us. We lived without air conditioning and hot water and the kitchen had very limited accommodations. Fortunately there was a small refrigerator where we were able to freeze our water bottles at night. But all in all, this was much different than any mission trips I had been on previous to this.

Our first day consisted on walking the community and seeing the projects of the organization that hosted us. Along the way we would meet some of the most amazingly friendly people. Although my eyes could see so many differences in how they live compared to the comforts of home I left behind. My heart knew it just landed in a place that would change it forever.

The next seven days were so full of God, Love, amazing children and families, and Rainbows!!! The day I had to return to my homeland, I knew without a doubt God had plans for me in Sambo and I would be returning soon!
